As I drive to and from work I have the radio on for background noise. Rarely do I remember what the DJ chats about, I usually miss the traffic report (and that's what I'm trying to key into!), and if you asked me what songs were played during my commute, I wouldn't be able to answer you. But my ears perk up for some questions being posed. Besides the title question, these are a few more questions being asked:
- "Does He care about me?"
- " Does He have a plan for me?"
- " Where do I go when I die?" and
- " What is God's plan for me?"
These ads, sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, have a variety of individuals responding to each targeted question. The answer that sticks out in my mind to the question "Does God know me?" is "How can God know me when I don't know Him?"
Part of me would be curious how members of Our Saviour and even individuals within our LC-MS church body would answer that question. Logic says that some of the answers in either group wouldn't be any different than those heard on the radio. If you were asked, how would you respond?
Does God know you? He knew you before you were even conceived (Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. Jeremiah 1: 5). He knows our thoughts (Jesus knew their [Pharisees] thoughts... Matthew 12: 25). He also knows what will happen in our future. ([Jesus] did not need man's testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man. John 2: 25)
God knows your joys; He knows your sorrows. He knows how many hairs are firmly inserted in your scalp and how many hairs you lost this morning when you washed your hair. He knows your thoughts, even though you never publicly declared them. He knows whether or not you'll be joining Him one day in heaven.
God desires to have a personal relationship with everyone. He wishes to be known as the best friend we will ever have. He yearns for us to share with Him our prayers of adoration, confession, supplication, and thanksgiving. He expects us to worship Him with our heart, soul, and mind.
Does God know you? With a resounding affirmation we can utter, "Yes, He does." And how blessed we are that he does! I encourage you to take time daily to get to know Him.
Enjoying the ride,
Jane
